CLASS 1 - OPEN ROADSTER SHOEING – STAFFORDSHIRE CHALLENGE TROPHY
Thursday 1st June
One ¾ fullered front or hind shoe, fitted and nailed on, plus one shoe made to judges specification.  55 minutes and Striker / Fireman allowed. Registered farriers only.

CLASS 2 - RESTRICTED ROADSTER SHOEING – STAFFORDSHIRE SHIELD
Wednesday 31st May
One ¾ fullered front or hind shoe, fitted and nailed on, plus one specimen shoe made to judges specification.  Restricted to competitors never placed 1st in a horse shoeing competition.  Open to 3rd and 4th year apprentices, with their ATF present.  60 Minutes and Striker / Fireman allowed.

CLASS 6 - CONCAVE SPEED SHOEMAKING – SPONSORED BY MUSTAD HOOFCARE
31st May & 1st June
One shoe.  30 minutes allowed. 5 minute pre-heat.  NO STRIKER / FIREMAN.  Some entries will be taken on the day.  Apprentice 1st & 2nd year will be unclipped.  Apprentice 3rd & 4th year will be clipped.

COMPETITION RULES
  1. Competitors in Class 1 must be registered farriers.  Apprentices in Class 2 must have his/her ATF present during the class, able to assist if necessary, or a pre-arranged co-supervising ATF.
  2. Apprentices must be under an approved apprenticeship scheme.
  3. Safety glasses, protective footwear i.e. steel toe caps and aprons or chaps must be worn be competitors, who should maintain safe working practice at all times.
  4. The judges will provide details of specimen shoes required.
  5. Apprentices in Class 2 must have their ATF present prior to the start of the shoeing class and remain present throughout.  Direct ATF assistance will affect marking.
  6. Competitors must provide own tools and safety equipment.
  7. Class 2 entries must not have been placed 1st in any horse shoeing competition.
  8. The judges decision will be final.
  9. Competitors will use O’Dwyer Damascus gas forges for all classes.
  10. Strikers will be allowed as necessary in Classes 1 and 2 ONLY.
  11. Prize money not collected by the recipient at the prize giving ceremony will be forfeited.
  12. Only competitors and officials are allowed in the shoeing area.
  13. Prize giving for classes 2, 4 & 5 will take place on Wednesday 1st June.  Classes 1, 3 & 6 will take place on Thursday 1st June.
  14. Foot preparation with a knife and nippers only will be allowed prior to the start of classes 1 and 2. 
A barbeque and shoemaking demonstrations for all competitors and guests will follow Wednesdays prize giving.

THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF FARRIERS makes awards in order to promote, support and maintain a high standard of excellence in Farriery.  Registered Farriers who are awarded medals have attained the very high standard demanded by the company.  Awards may be made in the following classes;
